I’m moving to Finland to become a teacher.

Finland is literally heaven.

I think there’s a lot to learn from the Finnish school system, but please remember Finland is the only nordic country that’s had school shootings in recent time. From what I’ve gathered they have much higher pressure on academical success than the other Nordic countries (I’d be happy if any of my Finnish friends could confirm or disprove this), and students score lower on happiness rankings and have a higher suicide rate than the rest of the Nordics. I’ve seen a few posts on tumblr glorifying northern European countries and I hope people take them with a grain of salt. Every country has it’s problems to deal with, and I hope no one moves to Scandinavia thinking it’s some perfect, harmonic paradise where everyone is accepting and welcoming.
